  • Instructions For Use

  • Dealerlist

  • Cavex VacuFormer

  • There is no power when the machine is switched on? Heating or vacuum do not light.

Check the power supply, the mains lead and/or the fuse.

  • The heating element stays cool when the main switch is switched to heating?

Make sure that the timer is switched on. Dial to the required time setting. Possibly the overheating protection is activated. Allow the element to cool and then try again.

  • The vacuum motor does not work when the switch is set to vacuum?

Possibly the overheating protection is activated. Allow the element to cool and then try again.

  • There are two Allen keys in the accessories. When to use them?

The Allen keys can be used to adjust the sliding of the tray holder. This can be necessary after long term use.

  • There are two red gaskets in the accessories. When to use them?

The gaskets can be used to increase the vacuum power. The outer holes will be shut off, so the vacuum power is more concentrated to the center. This can be necessary in a situation that cast model does not have a flat bottom surface resulting in poor adaptation to the perforated plate.

  • Cavex VacuFormer Sheets

  • How to avoid the sheets from tearing and/or stretching too much?

This can happen when the sheets become too hot. The problem can be prevented by preheating sufficiently and swiveling the heating element to the rear in time. Decrease heating time.

  • How to avoid the sheets to become too thin at the incisal edges?

This is often caused by a cast model being too high or by placing the cast too much centered on the vacuum plate. Trim the cast to a height of 2.5 cm maximum and/or place the anterior part closer to the center.

  • The vacuumed model shows insufficient details. How to improve this?

This is often caused by insufficient heating or a too short vacuum period.
Increase heating and check the softening of the sheet until it sagged approx. 3 cm (1.2 inch).  Extend vacuum time to at least 40 sec. after lowering the heated sheet over the cast.

  • The sheet got stuck in the holes in the vacuum plate?

Unscrew the plate, remove and empty the holes. Use a thin instrument, a probe for example, to remove the material out of the holes. Place vacuum plate back in its original position.

  • How to avoid the sheet to get stuck in the holes in the vacuum plate?

Overheating softens the sheet so much that is sucked into the vacuum plate holes during the vacuum process. Prevent overheating.

  • How can I combine two sheets?

Despite there are more options, the one below is most preferable.
Make a vacuum model with the first sheet and then repeat the process with the second sheet. Make sure that the sheet is clean in order to obtain proper adhesion (clean with alcohol 70%).

  • What are the dimensions of the different sheets?

  • Why is the mouthguard sheet labeled with Cavex on one side?

This is to indicate the harder (outer) part of the tray material. This side must be up when the sheet is fixed in the tray holder.

  • Why is the splint sheet protected with blue foil?

This is to protect the clear material from scratching. Remember to remove the blue foil from both sides of the sheet prior to use.

  • How can the sheet rupture when vacuumed over the cast model?

Check the cast model and remove sharp edges.

  • Cavex Instant Stone

  • What is the mixing ratio of Cavex Instant Stone?

Cavex Instant Stone comprises approximately 125 g of powder and 36 ml of activator liquid.

  • What is the shelf life of Cavex Instant Stone?

Cavex Instant Stone can be kept for three years, provided it is stored in a cool and dry location.

  • Can Cavex Instant Stone powder and/or activator be frozen?

No, Cavex Instant Stone Activator comprises mainly water. Once it has been frozen and then defrosted, the active ingredient will produce a white deposit that changes the way the product works.

  • What is the composition of Cavex Instant Stone?

The powder contains two active salts that ensure a wonderful homogeneous paste and a smooth model without any powder residuals. The activator liquid comprises two organic acids that ensure quick hardening. The composition is registered and protected via two patents: US6352585 and US6695901.

  • What is the classification of Cavex Instant Stone in accordance with ISO 6873?

Cavex Instant Stone can be categorized as class 4 based on its hardening time and hardness. However, expansion is slightly greater because Cavex Instant Stone is a “Shake and Pour” system. As a result, Cavex Instant Stone can be used more ideally as a class III gypsum. It is suitable for fast and not overly complex tasks such as models for splints, bleach trays and mouth protectors. Precise impressions must of course be cast using a suitable class IV gypsum.

  • Is pre-treatment required if alginate impression materials are cast?

If Cavex alginates are used, it is not necessary to pre-treat the impressions separately. Rinse with water, remove any excess water and cast the still-moist impressions.

  • Is pre-treatment required if silicone impression materials are cast?

Silicone impressions must be dry during casting, otherwise air bubbles may appear in the gypsum due to water/moisture.

  • Is pre-treatment required if polyether impression materials are cast?

Polyether impression materials must be dry during casting, just like silicone impressions. However, it is better to leave Cavex Instant Stone a few minutes longer in the impression to achieve maximum final hardness due the stiff and hard nature of these impression materials.

  • Can Cavex Instant Stone be scanned?

Yes, Cavex Instant Stone gypsum models can be scanned.

  • The surface remains powdery after casting. How can I prevent this?

Before mixing, it is important to loosen the powder and to shake it vigorously during the very short mixing time (10 – 15 seconds). Cavex Instant Stone must also be stored in a cool (frost-free) and dry location
