Cavex Shade Correction: in-office treatment for restoring tooth color

Tooth discoloration can happen due to a variety of reasons. Lifestyle is an important factor, such as smoking or drinking coffee and red wine. But the cause can also be medical and that is the reason we developed a medical in-office system for restoring the natural white tooth color of the patient.

In-office treatment for white teeth

In Europe, at-home whitening treatments are popular and widely used by dentists to whiten teeth. The maximum allowed percentage of hydrogen peroxide in the whitening gel for at-home whitening is 6%. For these kind of cosmetic whitening treatments, this percentage is sufficient most of the time. But the results depend heavily on the motivation of the patient for following the correct procedure outlined by the dentist.

At-home whitening treatments are mostly used for cosmetic reasons. But sometimes a patient has a medical condition like trauma, minocycline stains, or tetracycline.  The condition may require in-office treatment by the dentist to restore the naturally white teeth color.  Cavex Bite&White Shade Correction is perfectly suited for this. If the dentist decides the best form of treatment is a medical intervention, the Shade Correction system provides a fast, safe, and highly effective solution. It uses a revolutionary gel containing 25% Hydrogen Peroxide Superior which is exclusively developed and patented by Cavex.

REVOLUTIONARY GELIn-office treatment white teeth

The gel used in the Shade Correction System contains 25% Hydrogen Peroxide Superior. This revolutionary gel is based on reactive oxygen which is added in the form of stabilized encapsulated hydrogen peroxide. On contact with saliva, the pure hydrogen peroxide in the HPS gel rapidly breaks down into oxygen and water. In this process, free radicals are released which attack the double carbon bonds that are the source of most discolorations in the tooth.

Due to the unique formula, HPS gel works extremely fast, reducing treatment time to a minimum and therefore decreasing the risk of tooth sensitivity. The thermo-reversable properties of the gel make sure it stays in place during treatment, maximizing the final result. The system consists of a unique applicator pen that uses a brush for maximum control during application and a protective barrier for the protection of the surrounding soft tissue.

The in-office treatment explained

After diagnosing and determining whether an in-office treatment is the best option, the dentist will take pre-treatment photos. The procedure starts by performing prophylactic cleaning to remove plaque and surface stains. Lastly, the dentist will insert a cheek retractor and apply the barrier to the soft tissue to protect it from coming into contact with the gel. The barrier is cured by using a  dental curing light.

When the preparation is complete, the dentist will apply a thin layer of Cavex Bite&White Shade Correction 25% HPS gel onto the teeth. The gel contains 25% hydrogen peroxide. This is the active ingredient for restoring the natural tooth color. After ten to fifteen minutes the gel is removed by suction. These steps are repeated two or three times. After the last application and removal of the gel, the treatment is finished.

The dentist will take a post-treatment photo and compare it to the pretreatment photo. He or she will also advise the patient not to smoke, eat or drink any acidic or strong-colored products for at least 8 hours after treatment. Patients who experience sensitive teeth after the treatment can be recommended to use a desensitizer like Cavex ExSense for at least one week to instantly relieve any discomfort caused by sensitive teeth.

CLASS I MEDICAL DEVICE

Cavex Bite&White Shade Correction is a Class I Medical Device and fully complies with the new European Medical Device Regulation 2017/745 also known as MDR.

This revolutionary system enables dentists to offer a fast, effective, and safe medical in-office treatment for achieving naturally white teeth.
